Drafting setting in an AutoCAD

Drafting setting in an AutoCAD is the setting that controls the following. endpoint, middle point, extension, center, node, quadrant etc.

To carry out the drafting setting click on tool icon from the tools panel at the top. →from the items display, click on drafting setting → from the display, click on object snap then select all the options you want.

Some important tools and their functions

THE COPY TOOL – Drafting setting in an AutoCAD

To copy an object, click on the copy icon. → Alight the object you which to copy and right click. → Then click and hold and move the object to the desired place.

THE MIRROR TOOL -Drafting setting in an AutoCAD

To mirror an object, click on the mirror icon → select the object you want to mirror, move out of the object and right click → then move to the middle of the mirroring distance with the aid of node and click → move either up, down or side depending on the direction of your mirror and click → then right click and select NO from the dialogs that display.

THE OFFSET TOOL

To offset a line, click on the offset icon → input (type) the distance value says 150mm, 900mm etc. to which you want the line to be and press enter → move your console to the line you which to offset and click on it → move the console to the side you want the line to go and click.

THE HATCH TOOL

To hatch an object, click on the hatch icon → from the dialog box that display, click on the dark box in front of the word swatch and a hatch pattern palette will show with the following headings. ANSI, ISO, OTHER PREDEFINED, CUSTOM. Click on any of them to select your suitable pattern and click OK → move your console to the scale in the hatch and gradient panel and select or type in you desire scale says 1000 depending on the3 size of your work → in the same panel, move to Add pick point and mark it with the box in front of it → move to the object or area you want hatch and click → right click and select preview from the dialog box that display → then click on line icon and click ok from the display and the area or object will be hatched.

TO CHANGE LINE THICKNESS

Alight the line you which to change its thickness → move to the top of your drawing environment and click on the small box where you have 0.00mm but if but if the working environment was not set, click on the first box from your right hand side showing “Bylayer” and select your suitable thickness says 0.00mm, 0.30mm, 0.35mm etc. and the selected line will change to that thickness.

TO WRITE A TEXT

Click on the text icon mark “A” from the tools panel which may be at the side or on top of the drawing environment. → Move to where you want to write the text. click and hold to create a text box and release → then click inside the box and write your text.

TO COPY TEXT

Click on the copy icon → click on the text you want to copy and right click → click and hold then, drag to the position you want to place the text and click.

TO CONSTRCT ANGLE LINE

Click on construction line. → Right-click and choose angle. → input your desire angle says 450, 600, 750, etc. and press enter. NOTE: NE-SW direction is a positive angle 450 while NW-SE direction is a negative angle -450. Also, you can construct any suitable line of your choice either horizontal, vertical or angle. this is done by clicking on the line icon. → then right click and select the type of line you want to construct and click.

TO CREATE A BROKEN LINE

After finishing your drawing, alight the segment of the line where you which to create the broken line. → clink on the line type box on top of your drawing environment. Then, choose the type of broken line you desired. → Click on property icon, (Ctrl + 1) a dialog box will display. →from the dialog box that display, click on linetypescal and choose a scale that will make it visible says 10, 20, 50, 60, etc. and press enter.
